    Spain has the best-rated clinics: a 4.73 average and 86.6% of clinics at 4.5★ or higher.

    The United Kingdom shows the largest imbalance between front-desk and clinical complaints (2.44x); in Portugal, the most-cited operational topic in negative reviews is billing surprises.

Among the six countries analyzed, Spain leads with a 4.73 average rating per clinic, closely followed by Germany (4.72). France has the lowest average (4.51) and the highest share of 1-star reviews.
What do dental patients complain about most?
The front desk, not the dentist. In 1-2 star reviews across all six countries, front-desk and access problems (service, booking, phone, waiting) are mentioned 1.3 to 2.4 times more often than complaints about the clinical treatment.
How was the data collected?
Listings for 9,527 clinics were collected from Google Maps across the 59 largest cities of the six countries between April and July 2026, together with 165,113 reviews. Every review with text was classified by a language model against a 10-topic taxonomy. Contact us for the full methodology and its limitations.
